2013.05.09 Customer Feedback from Mattia’s Trattoria Piano Bar The unedited reviews found at the bottom section of this page were retrieved from multiple sources on the internet by searching “Mattia’s Trattoria Piano Bar” They are presented in reverse chronological order (most recent listed first). The relevant portions of each review which reference music/entertainment are formatted in Bold lettering for your convenience. About the Entertainment: For most of the year between April, 2012 and April, 2013, the entertainment schedule at Mattia’s Trattoria Piano Bar normally included Live Music seven nights a week. Almost every night for a year, I sang Lead & Bkgd. Vocals, and played Keyboards, Sax, Flute, & Guitar  with carefully selected backing tracks to enhance the Live Music. Plenty of time to “polish my act”... In the summer of 2012, the title, “Music Manager” was bestowed upon me, and Mattia began redirecting entertainment related tasks to me. In an effort to increase business during the week nights, We added a 2nd Ballroom Dance Instructor who brought about twenty people every Wed. night, so I added dozens more Jazz Standards to my play list to accommodate  them. By popular demand, I eventually began hosting an “Open Mic/Karaoke Night” and discovered just how much talent some of the audience members had.  During “Open Mic/Karaoke Night”, I also auditioned new singers for Fri. & Sat. nights. When we found a new vocalist everyone thought was great, I added bkgd. accompaniment tracks and made separate play lists as required for the new talent. Joe Gonzalez, web designer and graphic artist for the restaurant/bar then added these vocalists to the website on the “Featured Artists” page, and I set up and maintained the Entertainment Calendar/Schedule for the website. At last count, there were approximately a dozen very talented vocalists/musicians who provided  entertainment and appeared on a regular basis for an extended period of time during this past year. More Information about some of the other vocalists/musicians responsible for the compliments below is available in the Featured Artists section of this site. In general, the reviews below reflect the efforts of all of the entertainers including myself. However, it should be noted, the “Oh, sexy Motown” comment is almost certainly about the one & only “smooth as butter”, baritone, “R&B Classics” vocal stylings of local icon, Phil Johnson, my best friend & partner in the music business for over two decades, and still “the best voice in the land”.  Remarkably, customers who were not enthusiastic about some other aspects of their experience still voluntarily made only positive comments about the the entertainment/music and atmosphere/décor.  On behalf of the other singers/musicians who contributed to the entertainment, and myself, we are grateful for their unsolicited positive comments. *Note: Unfortunately, some of the comments below were less than complimentary towards the food or service, but Mattia’s Trattoria Piano Bar  closed the doors in April, 2013, and I am certain posting those opinions will not adversely affect this establishment in any perceivable manner.
July 10, 2012 Claudio’s & Mattia’s MOST ROMANTIC Claudio’s & Mattia’s have delicious food & amazing entertainment done with Italian flare. If you are looking for a romantic place to take that someone special then dance the night away while the kids are with the nanny-Then this is it!!!! Amazing Piano Bar Diner Review • Jan 30, 2013 We drive around 45 mins. to go to Claudio and Mattia's. If you want a great place to dance and enjoy the sound of the "Oh so sexy" motown, or groove to the sixties and even bring on your disco moves from the 80's...this is the place for you. They have amazing talent performing on stage! We wish we lived closer. My husband says I smile the whole time I am there. You just can't beat the sound and how it moves you on the dance floor. I'm telling you it is worth the drive, no matter where you live. Check it out, I promise you, you won't be disappointed!!!! Wonderful Likes it Diner Review • Jun 22, 2012 To the 2 prior negative post perhaps they should try it again. We went in with no expectations. The place is beautifully decorated and the atmosphere was excellent. However, the food we had was also excellent. We had the fettucine with bolgonese (sp) sauce. I don't know the owners personally but the previous poster is incorrect stating this a corporation that was mass producing food. The crab cake was also excellent. We enjoyed so much in fact we returned with 10 others the following week. A few who are in the restaurant produce industry and tough critics. Everyone loved the food and atmosphere. BTW, the place was packed, dinner, dancing and socializing were all very alive. The word is out we hear nothing but good from others and the word is getting out around town and out of town. Also on our second trip my husband and I shared the Ribeye which was excellent, best we have had in a restaurant. I will agree my first drink there was a bit weak. All in all we will be visiting often. Enjoyed the whole cannoli Diner Review • Dec 19, 2012 Mattia's was recommended by our daughter because she knew we liked Italian food and dancing. What a great place. My interior designer wife was impressed with the decor (a real accomplishment), and we found the food and the musicians to be GREAT!!!. Our waiter was congenial and went to great effort to see that our not so easily pleased guests were kept more than happy. If you like great food, music, and dancing, Mattia's Trattoria is THE place to be. Dined on 02/02/2013 Noise Level Quiet Service was poor. Menu selection limited. Many menu and wine items not available. Very surprised that the restaurant did not have shrimp and crab for diners. Music was great Dined on 01/11/2013 Noise Level Quiet The food and entertainment were fantastic! The only issue was I had to go with my 3rd choice on the menu because they didn't have the first two. March 24, 2013 I have dined in this this restauramt three times in the last three months. The quality of the food is from horrible to medicore. The food is over priced, the service is poor and less than expected. The portions are small and poorly prepared. I ordered at different times the crabcakes, spaghetti bowl dish and eggplant parmigiana. The manager roams around but does not appear concerned. The atmosphere is fine for a bar. The music is good and the crowd seems to enjoy hanging out, mixing and drinking. This is fine but skip having dinner. Most of the guests do not appear to be eating, I saw very few diners. I may return to listen to the music as it is enjoyable.
